City of Wyoming to Hold Memorial Day Ceremony

WYOMING, Michigan, May 18, 2016 – The City of Wyoming will hold its annual Memorial Day Ceremony at 7 p.m. on Monday, May 30 at the Veterans Memorial Garden, 2380 DeHoop SW.  

Retired Lieutenant Colonel Joe Rossi, a veteran of the United States Marine Corps who served for 22 years, was deployed for Desert Storm, served at the Pentagon, and is currently a practicing lawyer, will be the guest speaker for the event. The Lee High School band will perform, “As All the Heavens Were a Bell”. The Wyoming Department of Public Safety Honor Guard will fire a rifle volley salute. Bronson Swan, a graduate of Lee High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy will perform taps. Mayor Jack Poll will host the ceremony.  
 
“The City of Wyoming is dedicated and privileged to recognize those who have served and those who continue to serve our country in the armed forces in order to protect our freedoms,” said Rebecca Rynbrandt, director of community services for the City of Wyoming. “Our Memorial Day Ceremony is a tribute to that service and protection. We are grateful to have the Veterans Memorial Garden in Wyoming. It is a place where we can hold these ceremonies and where people can honor and reflect, at any time, on those who have protected and those who continue to protect our freedoms.”  
 
The Veterans Memorial Garden also welcomes the installation of the third and final archway from the series of three arches built in the park. The arches are titled, “Duty,” “Honor” and the newest addition, “Country”.
