Community Development prepares the annual U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) grant application, implements the housing repair program, coordinates other HUD funded development/improvement projects, and serves the Wyoming Community Development Committee.
Community Development receives Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds from HUD and uses them to support a wide range of programs targeted at low and moderate income residents.
Every five years, Community Development staff researches and analyzes the City's neighborhoods related to areas of problems and needs concerning low-income concentrations, persons with special needs, housing and commercial structure deterioration, recreational requirements and other neighborhood issues. Following this analysis, the Community Development Committee decides on a Comprehensive Housing and Community Development Strategy to guide the use of the HUD funds.
For over 40 years, CDBG funds have been used for housing rehabilitation loans. Read more about Housing Rehabilitation Loans and the 0% and 3% interest loans available.
