Housing Commission

Purpose

To provide decent, safe and sanitary subsidized housing for low income families.

Powers

The Housing Commission administers HUD-subsidized programs related to
Housing, such as Public Housing, Section 8 Rental Vouchers, Family Self-Sufficiency and Homeownership.  It must comply with all HUD regulations pertaining to these programs. It also assists families in becoming self-sufficient.

Meeting Dates

Third Tuesday of the following months: January, March, May, August, October and December.

Members

Five. 

One of the five members must be a resident. No member of the Commission shall have any interest directly or indirectly in any contract for property, materials or services to be acquired by the Housing Commission.

Appointment

City Manager, with concurrence of City Council

Term

Five years, beginning July 1.
