Construction Board of Appeals

Purpose

To hear and decide appeals of orders, decisions or determinations made by the
building official relative to the application and interpretation of the applicable construction codes.

Powers

An application for appeal shall be based on a claim that the true intent of the code or the rules legally adopted thereunder have been incorrectly interpreted, the provisions of the code do not fully apply, or an equally good or better form of construction is proposed.  The board shall have no authority to waive requirements of the construction codes.

Obligations

Commitment to safeguard the public health, safety and general welfare through interpretation, enforcement and application of minimum code standards as indicated within the various codes in effect.

Meeting Dates

Second Monday of each month at the call of the Chair.

Members

Five, plus an alternate

Appointment

City Manager, confirmed by City Council.

Term

Two year terms, beginning July 1.

$35 per meeting
