Redevelopment Ready Community

The City of Wyoming is a certified Redevelopment Ready Community®. Redevelopment Ready Communities (RCC) focus on attracting new investors, businesses and residents through targeted and strategic planning. This is awarded to communities that demonstrate an active partnerships with residents in effort to create a vibrant community.

Wyoming's RCC certification shows our commitment to development readiness. We went through a rigorous assessment and worked locally to integrate the RCC best practices. Each best practice addresses key elements of community and economic development. Evaluations were conducted by the RRC team through interviews, document review and data analysis. After the baseline assessment, we were presented with a report that highlighted successes and outlined recommended actions for implementation of the best practice criteria.  We worked to create development policies and procedures, a community-supported vision, a predictable review process and compelling sites for developers to locate their latest projects. Wyoming also gained access to a series of additional benefits, including the Redevelopment Services Team, a specialize team focused on supporting development opportunities for priority sites through site packaging and marketing efforts. These packaged sites are primed for new investment through the City's effective policies, efficient processes and the broad community support.

Through this process, the City of Wyoming followed best practices outlined by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. This includes:

  • Plans and Engagement
  • Zoning
  • Development Review
  • Boards and Commissions
  • Economic Development and Marketing
