Downtown Development Authority

City of Wyoming - Downtown Development Authority

The DDA supports businesses in Wyoming's Downtown area --- located along West Michigan's famous 28th Street. A shopping and dining destination for Wyoming, Greater Grand Rapids and the entire West Michigan region, 28th Street is one of the most heavily trafficked roads in the area --- with name recognition that is second to none.

28 West

Most recently, the DDA has focused on 28 West, a long-term vision for 28th Street to become a sustainable, economically vibrant, walkable town center. The DDA, in cooperation with the business community, property owners, city leaders and citizens have focused their efforts on cultivating a new, vibrant destination in Wyoming.

By providing insight and thoughtful direction on details like orientation of buildings, building facades, streets, green space, landscaping and parking, the DDA along with its partners have committed to making 28th Street a friendly, inclusive neighborhood.

In 2016, the City of Wyoming constructed 28 West Place, the first half of the "crescent street" designed to bring visitors into a more walkable, vibrant shopping and dining area.  Located just a few hundred feet from West Michigan’s famous 28th Street, this significant investment by the City will have a noticeable impact on redevelopment of adjacent property, including the former Studio 28 theater site.  Wyoming Village Mall owners are already adding new construction, site and building improvements that businesses will want to be a part of.
