Wyoming Housing Commission

The mission of the Wyoming Housing Commission (WHC) is to promote adequate and affordable housing, economic opportunity, and a suitable living environment free from discrimination.

The WHC owns 195 public housing units. They are located at Westwood Apartments, Waldon Woods, and scattered locations throughout the City of Wyoming. Individuals and families pay rent directly to the WHC based on their income.

The WHC administers approximately 1,150 Housing Choice Vouchers (Section-8) within Kent County and part of Ottawa County. The families and individuals who receive the vouchers pay a portion of their income for rent and the WHC pays the remainder (up to the limits set by the Department of Housing and Urban Development - HUD) directly to the landlords each month.

COVID-19 Procedural Changes for Wyoming Housing Commission

The Wyoming Housing Commission (WHC) continues to stay in communication with local agencies regarding COVID-19.  WHC has reviewed safety measures and has implemented changes as how we conduct our day-to-day operations, they are as follows:

The WHC is currently OPEN to the public. We will continue to receive paperwork in the office drop box located outside the lobby door or you may drop it off to the front desk staff. Currently, staff will continue to handle annual recertifications, interims, and other program tasks by mail. If you can do business by phone, mail or email, we are asking the public to please contact us in one of the following ways.

WHC values our participants, residents and the public, so we want to ensure we do our best to still serve our community while maintaining the policies and guidelines set forth by the CDC and the City of Wyoming meant to protect the health of residents and slow the spread of COVID-19.

HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHERS (SECTION 8) WAITLIST OPENING

The Wyoming Housing Commission will be opening its Section 8 wailtist on May 23, 2022, through May 25, 2022.  Please go to the "Rental Assistance (Section 8) tab on the left for information on how to apply.  Please read all the information before applying.

 

WHC BOARD MEETINGS

The next Housing Commission Board will meet on  March 15, 2022 at 1:00 p.m.  The Board members are Jennifer Stowell, Bruce Robey, Diana Lanser, Katy Steele, and Marilee Roukema.

The 2022 CY Schedule for regular meetings of the Board are as follows:
