The City of Wyoming is excited to announce the grand reopening of Jackson Park Saturday, June 5 after a year-long closure due to construction.

Community members are invited to celebrate with the Mayor, City Council, and the Parks and Recreation Commission during the formal grand opening – set for 10 to 11 a.m. on June 5 at 1331 33rd St SW. Wyoming Public School District’s high school band will offer a special performance in celebration of the reopening of Jackson Park. The event will also feature family activities and the opportunity to play on the newly constructed splash pad.

“We are excited to reopen Jackson Park for our residents”, said Jack Poll, mayor. The redevelopment has been highly anticipated by area residents and we are happy to have the park complete.

The $1.4 million investment in Jackson Park features a new splashpad, playground, shelter, parking lot, and security lighting. The neighborhood park sits adjacent to Wyoming Intermediate School, offering great amenities to the school and community at large. In addition to the new features Jackson Park has 8 tennis courts, a basketball court and a play area located by the school. The park also hosts a large green space which provides for storm-water storage during heavy rain events.

“We are pleased to celebrate the grand opening of Jackson Park”, said Rebecca Rynbrandt, director of community services. “We pride ourselves on excellent facilities and know that the improved accessibility of Jackson Park will be a great asset to the families of our community.”

Funding for the project is being provided through the City’s Capital Projects Revolving Fund, with staff support through the City’s dedicated Parks and Recreation Operational Millage.
