Wyoming to Virtually Host 10th Annual Wyoming Gives Back Holiday Event

Posted on Monday, November 16, 2020 | News & Announcements

The City of Wyoming will virtually host the 10th annual Wyoming Gives Back celebration through a live broadcast on Thursday, December 3 from 7–8 p.m. to benefit the Salvation Army Angel Tree Toy Drive.

Each year the City of Wyoming partners with local businesses to celebrate the holiday season and collect toys for the Salvation Army Angel Tree. Last year, more than 800 toys were collected for donation, and with the generous support of the participating businesses, the City raffled off nearly $4,000 in prizes.

Due to gathering constraints, the event has been reimagined as a virtual celebration after a month of toy donations. The event will feature local performances, a live Santa call line, drawings for prizes, and more! Community members will have the whole month of November to donate new, unwrapped toys to the Salvation Army Angel Tree. Donators will receive a raffle ticket in exchange for a chance to win prize packs that contain hundreds of dollars of gifts donated by Wyoming businesses.

Some local businesses are helping by hosting toy drop-off sites and issue raffle tickets to donors. People can bring new toys without gift wrapping to one of the businesses listed below. The businesses will give one raffle ticket per toy.

Wyoming Gives Back has added Santa’s Kids Coloring Contest. Kids will have the whole month of November to submit coloring pages or drawings for a chance to win a prize. Templates can be picked up at City Hall, the Kent District Library Wyoming Branch, or downloaded from the event webpage. Santa will announce the winners during the Wyoming Gives Back live broadcast.

Tune in on Thursday, December 3 at 7:00 p.m. for a fun-filled holiday event featuring live music, Mr. and Mrs. Claus, and prize drawings. The event can be viewed live on WKTV Community Media Comcast Cable Chanel 25, AT&T U-Verse Channel 99, the WKTV Facebook page, or WKTV webpage.
