The City of Wyoming is
seeking a Housing Inspector to join the building inspections department. The
Housing Inspector position performs detailed technical and specialized
inspection work involving the enforcement of City codes that regulate the
health and safety of properties, building construction and zoning to ensure
compliance with established standards, ordinances, codes, rules, and
regulations. In this role, you will perform field inspections, interpret and
enforce municipal adopted codes related to property maintenance and rental
housing.
Responsibilities include preparing
detailed inspection reports, maintaining accurate records, and drafting
correspondence. The Housing Inspector interacts regularly with property owners,
contractors and external contacts as well as internal staff throughout the
organization. In addition to housing inspections, the role may involve and
support mechanical inspections or code enforcement activities if assigned and
requires familiarity with mechanical trade practices.
Success in this position
requires strong independent judgement, and the ability to plan, prioritize, and
manage a varied workload while applying technical knowledge to analyze and
respond to rental housing inspection matters as well as ensuring compliance
with applicable codes and regulations.
