City of Wyoming Rescinds Local Civil Emergency Due to COVID-19

Posted on Thursday, July 01, 2021 | News & Announcements

COVID-19 UPDATE: On June 22, Michigan lifted most statewide restrictions put in place to stop the spread of COVID-19. With the end of these restrictions, the City of Wyoming lifted its local civil emergency today. That means all public meetings will be held in person rather than via teleconference, face coverings are no longer required at City offices and facilities, and all capacity limits have been lifted. Additionally, expanded allowances for outdoor seating in parking lots, outdoor cooking, and the use of temporary structures has also been rescinded.

State-mandated capacity limits and mask requirements have also been lifted at local restaurants, grocery stores and shops. However, individual businesses may choose to require them. Face coverings are still required in health care settings such as a doctor’s office or hospital.

We thank all the health care, grocery store and restaurant workers, first responders, teachers, business owners and City employees who have served our community each day throughout the pandemic.

If residents or staff feel more comfortable wearing a mask, we encourage them to do so. The City of Wyoming prohibits any harassment or mistreatment to those who choose to continue wearing masks. To continue to protect our community, we urge you to stay home when you’re sick, get a COVID-19 test if you’ve been a close contact with an infected individual, wash your hands regularly and get vaccinated.
