The City of Wyoming is seeking a Deputy Finance Director to join its leadership team. As a key member of the Finance Department, the Deputy will support citywide operations by overseeing a variety of financial programs and staff. Reporting to the Finance Director, the Deputy will assist with strategic planning, financial forecasting, internal controls, and provide primary administration of finance systems. The ideal candidate will bring an understanding of governmental accounting and generally accepted accounting principles.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Financial Analysis: Analyzing historical data and trends to understand operational challenges and factors that impact financial results.

Forecasting and Financial Planning: Assisting with developing long-term financial planning by modeling various options for leadership and developing short-term forecasts such as those needed to manage cash flow and select investment term maturities.

Technical Accounting Resource: Providing expertise in implementing new GASB standards, developing and implementing appropriate accounting procedures for existing and new operations.

Staff Leadership and Development: Overseeing daily operations of the department, performance management, internal culture building, and training and development opportunities for staff.

Process Improvement: Implementing best practices and internal controls, identifying opportunities to implement new or improve existing technology for more efficient and effective workflow.

Communication: Creating and presenting training opportunities and materials for end users in departments and working closely with City leadership and the Communications team to share City financial updates with the community.

Qualified candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field and five years of progressively responsible experience. Candidates with credentials beyond a bachelor’s degree or with governmental accounting experience are preferred.

 

Candidates selected for consideration will be invited to participate in the first-round interview process, which is scheduled for Wednesday, September 10, 2025.
