The Wyoming Police Department (WYPD) is now accepting applications for
the position of police recruit – individuals who are passionate about public
service and aspire to become full-time police officers. This position offers
paid tuition for the police academy and an hourly wage while attending an
MCOLES - approved academy.
Following successful completion of the academy and licensing by MCOLES,
recruits will be promoted to police officer. Wyoming police officers benefit

reimbursement, longevity pay, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), a 4%

WYPD employs 103 sworn officers
and offers specialized unit opportunities including detective bureau, K-9,
tactical team, crisis negotiation, motorcycle unit, school resource officer,
Kent Area Narcotics Team, tactical bike team, and more.
The Department is one of 12 CALEA accredited agencies in the State of
Michigan. According to the international standard of CALEA, Wyoming meets 484

criminal justice, public administration, or a related field are preferred.
Police Officers with the WYPD are not cross-trained in fire suppression
work and are not required to possess firefighting or MFR qualifications.
